Therapy that doesn’t hide behind professionalism – I show up as a real person so you can too

Solemere Psychotherapy

About

What is Solemere...?

Solemere is a combination of two words. Sole is drawn from Latin and Italian, meaning sun — a source of light and renewal. Mere is from Old English, used to describe a body of water. Together, sun and water describe the natural elements we need to thrive.

Solemere also carries the sense of soul and mirror. Therapy holds both: a way of connecting with your inner life, and a reflection that helps you understand yourself more fully. In this way, Solemere reflects what psychotherapy offers — light, reflection, and the possibility of meaningful change.

My name is Tanya - I believe therapy is where meaningful transformation occurs through a combination of my guidance and your courage. I've known what it’s like to lose direction, to rebuild, and to learn the hard way how to keep going when there wasn’t a clear way forward. With over fifty years behind me, I don’t come to this work untouched — I bring the perspective of someone who has lived through enough of life’s hardest edges that I can meet you with honesty and respect. It’s a privilege to be entrusted with your story, and I approach that responsibility with care, respect, and gratitude: I respect the  courage it takes to step into this space, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.

What I Offer...

Individual Therapy:
Online & In-Person
Group Therapy:  Focus Areas & Specializations

I offer one-on-one therapy for adults navigating trauma, grief, life transitions, and disconnection. Sessions are available in person in Victoria, BC, or online for convenience and accessibility. My work is rooted in connection — I draw from approaches like person-centered therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, somatic work, and narrative practices to meet you where you are. Individual therapy gives you a steady, confidential space to explore what’s hard, uncover resilience, and move toward greater clarity and balance.

For more details about my specialties, focus, and availability, please visit my Treatments page.

Group therapy offers the chance to connect with others who are experiencing similar challenges: this helps you realize you aren't alone. I strongly believe as humans we are meant to draw strength from shared experience. Healing often happens through community — by listening, sharing, and learning together. I facilitate groups that are supportive, structured, and intentional, designed to blend therapeutic insight with real human connection.  My groups vary and shift according to demand: for example, I currently run a  Civic Support Circle, a space for processing the stress of today’s political and social climate.  I also draw from my background as a librarian and run reading groups that offer selected readings as a springboard for reflection and conversation, and therapeutic support.
